Bug Description

Binary package hint: hal

Why does the hal-device-manager depend on hwdb-client-gnome? After collecting information about the system and submitting to the database, the application hwdb-client-gnome and it's dependencies are no longer needed, but I cannot remove this due to hal-device-manager depending on this. Please remove the need for the hwdb-client-gnome to be installed on the system after it's use. It's just another item growing the overall size of the distribution.

This is because there is a button "Ubuntu Device Database" in hal-device-manager that opens hwdb-gui.

Looks like in Gutsy version, there is no more this button, but the dependancy is still there !

hal-device-manager has been replaced by gnome-device-manager since Ubuntu 8.04 LTS (Hardy), so this bug does no longer apply. Closing as invalid.
