gnumeric open file dialog ridiculously small

Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnumeric

With the default ubuntu theme and fonts the gnumeric file open dialog only shows 2.5 filenames in the selector (see screenshot). This is a bit silly on a screen which has space to show ~50 lines of text.

I presume this is because it uses the default gnome dialog size but encroaches on the selector field's space with extra options.

I realize it can be resized but maybe the default can be better.

I guess all gnome programs suffer this to some degree but this is extreme.

the screenshot is called gnucash_open_dialog; the affected package is gnumeric though right?

Still an issue with latest gnumeric from Gutsy?

It looks reasonable to me in Gutsy.

I don't think it was a gnumeric thing, rather a general problem with the file dialogs. The dialogs are much better in Gutsy.

The problem is that the gnumeric 1.7.11-1ubuntu3 does not seem to have the import/output filters installed. It neither reads nor exports xls for example.
It WILL read a gnumeric file, but says "unsupported file type" for .xls. And won't offer to save anything much other than CSV, gnumeric or pdf.

Looks like someone didn't do the build properly.

I'm running Gutsy, but 2.6.22-13 kernel as -14 gets a kernel panic on startup. Haven't figured how to properly report that yet, and too many other jobs to do, so will stick with Feisty on my production machines.

Marking this as fixed as this looks good in Gutsy.
