Bug Description
scenario:
*set your user to autologin
*install gnome-shell
*logout
*select gnome session
*login
*reboot --> autologins to unity
scenario 2:
*fiddle with lightdm.conf: for example execute: sudo /usr/lib/
*reboot
* autologin to a blank wallpaper and cursor. Only way out is by pressing: ctrl-alt-del to logout.

Thank you for your bug report, could you install d-feet, go to org.freedesktop .Accounts on the system bus, select your user id and get the Xsession property value? What is in your .dmrc as well?
