Bug Description

New python-gnome2 2.17.92_0ubuntu1 wants to install python2.4 and python2.4-minimal. I consider this a bug as all python packages are now version independent.

Thank you for your bug. That's because the package ships a gnome-vfs module which is built with the corresponding libpython, that's not real a bug. What would you change?

With previous version of python-gnome2 python2.4 was not needed. So the dependency is due to specific change in 2.17.92?

don't link extensions with -lpython. maybe a dropped the change from 2.17.2-0ubuntu1 to 2.17.2-0ubuntu2?

Fixed with that upload:

 gnome-python (2.17.92-0ubuntu2) feisty; urgency=low
 .
   * debian/patches/01_change_for_dbg_package.dpatch:
     - made a proper patch with the changes required for the debug package
   * debian/patches/01_dont_build_with_lpython.dpatch:
     - made a proper patch with that change dropped with the previous upload,
       fix the Depends on python2.4 package (Ubuntu: #87992)
