Windows Ubuntu One stops at "Getting information"

Bug Description
As mentioned in bug #852107, I opened a new bug report for essentially the same thing but this time I am sure that there is no proxy.
Ubuntu one client windows 2.0.1 on windows 7 professional x64 just stops there. After a long time (wasn't really counting but must have been 15-20 minutes) it displayed the following error
AttributeError
"'NoneType' object has no attribute 'get_rootdir'"
At this point, it goes to the main client screen, but doesn't really work as it shows errors such as the following
AttributeError
"'NoneType' object has no attribute 'autoconnect_
(now, here I should report that the client says after the error that it really needs to close, but keeps on working...)
I am absolutely sure that the network doesn't have a network proxy (well, not needed anyway), and the network firewall is premissive. I disabled the windows firewall to be certain, and from the network firewall, I have 2 other ubuntu one clients running successfully. (1 of them is a windows XP VM which works ok)
now on to some debugging. Firing up sysinternals TCPview, I don't even see a ubuntu one process trying to connect to the internet, and what seems very interesting is that process "windows-

This is a known bug. The port 53001 is meant to be open by ubuntuone- syncdaemon. This bug is because syncdaemon is not starting, or is starting and crashing.
The main bug for this issue is #855428 so I am marking this as duplicate.
