Bug Description
Binary package hint: update-notifier
After I did an apt-get update and apt-get upgrade (went away from terminal due to the length of the download) I came back and this error was reported in my screen.
So unfortunately I can not give any additional information.

I tried to restart update manager but it immediately crashed again. So the problem seems to be persistent.
