Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox

Latest Ubuntu upgrade for Firefox 2 to 2.0.0.2 has caused saved username/passwords on sites that have multiple valid entries to not auto fill. Password Manager still shows the correct usernames/passwords but Firefox will not allow selection on web page.

i.e. http://www.yahoo.com has 2 usernames/pw remembered from old Firefox 2. After upgrade browser will not show username/pw combo on site when typing either entry.

js

TESTCASE:
Open yahoo.com
Start typing username/password
Does not autocomplete

Was running firefox 2.0.0.1 and after Ubuntu upgrade to 2.0.0.2 stored
username / password combinations that have more that one entry will not
show.

i.e. http://www.yahoo.com has 2 logins for this page. 1) johndoe / pw:
test and 2)janedoe / pw:test. Prior to this update I could start
typing one the usernames and the stored password would automatically
return. Now I have no username or password returned but can still see
them in the password manager.

Any site that only has 1 username/pw entry works correctly.

I confirm that this happens. Firefox 2.0.0.2+1-0ubuntu1 on Feisty. The drop-down autocomplete list does list the correct user names, but selecting one does not fill in the password.

lets wait a bit more if this issue pops up in edgy, dapper, breezy
too. If you see this issue on one of those distributions, drop a line.

Thanks,

I just tried this again now, and it seems to work as normal. It was definitely broken yesterday, so I guess something in this morning's update fixed it (though I don't recall there being another new firefox package, perhaps a library or something?).

Can the original reporter confirm the same?

I checked my computer @ home running edgy and updated firefox. I am
still having the same issue with username/passwords. I will check my
computer at work soon and if I find it working I will report it.

thanks!

I had this same issue, it appears that installing 2.0.0.2 creates signons2.txt from your signons.txt file. Your original file should still remain.

I do not have specifics as to how this migration process is occurring, but I have found that by removing "signons2.txt" solves this problem on the next restart of Firefox.

At that point it converts your signons.txt to signons2.txt again, only this time it works.

I have had little success with many of the solutions listed on mozillazine, including the python script. This has worked on both my Dell laptop with Kubuntu, AND my desktop machine with Debian.

My folder only contains the signons2.txt file :( I found an old
signon.txt file from another profile but that did not contain most of my
accounts. I am slowly remaking the username/passwords for sites.

Thanks for the assistance.
