blox-tk (the GUI) doesn't build on hoary because the tkConfig.sh script sets TK_XINCLUDES to "# no special path needed" which is an invalid set of CFLAGS and causes the configure time probing for tk to fail

I set the severity to major because the gui is not usable at all.

Rebuilding the development libraries eliminates the problematic TK_XINCLUDES setting and builds the packages (at least on Debian sid)

Please note that the maintainer of gnu-smalltalk in Debian has far more recent packages for gnu-smalltalk that have not been uploaded by a 'sponsor'.

I don't see anything in 2.1 in unstable that would make a difference. It's just a dep for libreadline5-dev. Are you saying that a simple rebuild fixes this? Thanks.

Yes, once tkConfig.sh is fixed a trivial rebuild will make blox-tk be
built.

Robert. We just uploaded an newer upstream version than Debian has. Do you have Edgy yet? And if so, would you mind checking on this bug? Thank you.

I think this is probably safe to close now. Running gst-blox (the gnu-smalltalk GUI) on my amd64 edgy box works fine. I had a quick scan of the powerpc build log too and i didnt see any blox errors.
