Bug Description

Binary package hint: mc

[Ubuntu 7.04 Herd4, mc 4.6.1]
I tried to rename the original file /etc/rsnapshot.conf which comes with Ubuntu 7.04 Herd4 using the rename short key F4. There the mc crashed. At this moment a USB disk was running and mounted. A second mc was open showing different directories though.

This should be fixed with mc 1:4.6.1-7ubuntu1. Please reopen this bug if the problem still persists in this version.

No I still experience this: a segfault everytime I press the function key to rename.

I'm ready to test patches, anything, to fix this.

i cannot reproduce this in jaunty:
sudo touch /etc/test.conf
then try renaming it (rename key is F6, not F4) and I get the normal (permission denied) error
no crash

can you please elaborate on the issue, or confirm if this is resolved for you?
