Bug Description

Binary package hint: pypanel

After installing the package i wondered why i was not able to start the panel. It seemed that the binary which starts the application was not found in the path. After doing a "dpkg -L pypanel" my assumption has come true. The package lacks the binary in "/usr/bin".

firyar@rohan:~$ dpkg -L pypanel
/.
/usr
/usr/bin
/usr/share
/usr/share/pypanel
/usr/share/pypanel/ppicon.png
/usr/share/doc
/usr/share/doc/pypanel
/usr/share/doc/pypanel/README.gz
/usr/share/doc/pypanel/copyright
/usr/share/doc/pypanel/changelog.Debian.gz
/usr/share/menu
/usr/share/menu/pypanel
/usr/share/man
/usr/share/man/man1
/usr/share/man/man1/pypanel.1.gz
/etc
/etc/pypanelrc

I attached a patch which should fix this issue.
Since the fix is already in feisty and it is a regression (worked in dapper), is it suitable for a SRU ?

Hi,

the package in general is suitable for an SRU.

However your patch looks a little bit strange: Why do you need to change the python-path?

Also would be good to:
- commit a complete debdiff for reviewing
- set yourself as assignee for the bug

Cheers,
    Stefan.

This patch was a workaround for a bug of python-xlib[1]. If the python-xlib issue is fixed, rebuilding pypanel should be enough.

Hi,

please note the changed SRU-policy for universe, which basically states that you can upload to -proposed without needing acks from motu-sru.

Cheers,
    Stefan.

Lionel, are you going to submit a debdiff? If so, please go ahead and manage the upload.

Edgy will reach End Of Life status on April 26, so there is no time to release this SRU this in time.

Changed in pypanel:
