Fresh install of Feisty herd 5. installed jackd, jackctl. Modprobe raw1394, jackd -d freebob produced this SYSSEGV immediately.

another note: jackd -d alsa did not crash, in fact I was able to start ardour and make and play back a simple recording.
At the time of the crash, no firewire audio device was plugged in. I don't actually own any device supported by freebob, I was trying to get the software loaded and configured before I arrange to borrow one...
