Bug Description

Could not calculate the upgrade

An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade:
E:Error, pkgProblemResolver::Resolve generated breaks, this may be caused by held packages.

 This can be caused by:
 * Upgrading to a pre-release version of Ubuntu
 * Running the current pre-release version of Ubuntu
 * Unofficial software packages not provided by Ubuntu

If none of this applies, then please report this bug using the command 'ubuntu-bug update-manager' in a terminal.

Run:

sudo apt-get remove libglib2-ruby1.8

Then try the upgrade again.

Thanks for the assistance. Removing libglib2-ruby1.8 enabled the
upgrade to finish.

How did you know that I needed to remove this package?

If you trace the apt.log backwards you can find the problematic package. Its not easy, but the developers are currently working on a way for the update-manager to explain to the user what package is causing the issue.
