Herd 5 fails to install from CD - kernel problem

Bug Description

Binary package hint: base-installer

Herd 5 fails to install from the alternate CD image on a Toshiba U205-S5002, Centrino Duo. Had the same problem in Herd 2 or 3, then 4 was ok.

Syslog has

Errors were encountered while processing:
/var/cache/apt/archives/linux-image-2.6.20-9-generic_2.6.20-9.16_i38b.deb
E: Sub process /usr/bin/dpkg returned error code (1)
base-installer: error" exiting on error base-installer/kernel/failed-install

Sorry I'm no longer using Ubuntu, switch to the mac.
