tk missing antialiasing support

Bug Description

Binary package hint: tk8.4

aMSN (using tcl/tk) appear having no antialiased fonts.
Is tk linked against libxft using --enable-xft configure options?!

This appears to have been fixed in Hardy.

The bug reappears in Karmic Koala RC. Started gitk and boom my eyes are gone. No antialiassing, everything is gray, fonts are illegible.

This regression is still there in Lucid. Is there a reason for this change?

Oh well, for what it's worth, if you ended up here because you fonts stopped looking OK in gitk or git-gui or some other tk app, see the workaround in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/git-core/+bug/600808
