I don't believe this is actually an issue with bind9 as the error is coming from resolvconf - which is called as bind9 starts up.

Hi Michael

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug.

As you will see in my previous comment the issue is actually with resolvconf rather than bind9 - /etc/resolv.conf is normally a symbolic link which the resolvconf package manages.

Any chance you may have replaced this with an actual file?
