gnome-panel crash after using nautilus with smb shares

Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

similar to "36942" which is marked as a duplicate of "37037" but is different.
(edgy-eft) Gnome-Panel crashes after copying files using smb through nautilus. repeatable. Panel is visible but blank (no menus).
I have to cntrl-alt-backspace, kill "gnome-panel" from command line, login again.
Bug buddy does not run, nautilus still functions.
