Bug Description

Could not calculate the upgrade

An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade:
The package 'skype:i386' is marked for removal but it is in the removal blacklist.

 This can be caused by:
 * Upgrading to a pre-release version of Ubuntu
 * Running the current pre-release version of Ubuntu
 * Unofficial software packages not provided by Ubuntu

If none of this applies, then please report this bug using the command 'ubuntu-bug update-manager' in a terminal.

I guess this could be related to skype not yet being available in partner for precise. But why does it end up marked for removal? I know there's a question asking whether to purge obsolete packages, but I thought this comes at the end of the upgrade. Micah, was a question like this presented?

That question came at the end. I was able to upgrade a few hours later, and skype wasn't removed. Not sure what caused this.

It appears to be caused by a conflict with the IA32-LIBS package

Seems like this was a transient issue, resolved now.

It would not have been caused by ia32-libs, because the skype package in the partner archive doesn't use ia32-libs.
