wireless networking has no authorization

Running ubuntustudio live DVD 12.04 alpha (jan29build) on an Acer aspire one (netbook) Both with the live DVD and after install on the same machine I am using to file this with the same key. the net manager will not authenticate the wireless connection. The key is 128wep key for 11M (b) connect. the scan reports the local APs ok, but no connect. The syslog output is here:
