Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox

Firefox crashes reproducable on page www.eventim.de.

This is a page for booking tickets for certain type of events. For some of them, you can choose which seat you want to take in a plan - and this plan is implemented with a java applet. Just search for some event and then click on "Saalplan". Firefox crashes while loading the java applet.

I have been able to fix this java bug in feisty by upgrading new j2re1.4 (1.4.2.02-1ubuntu3). Once the upgrade is done the java applet works fine (I guess that gnomefreak had this package so his feisty's didn't crash.

So let's keep this bug for EDGY only ;)

I think its java5 causing this crash. on feisty i use java6-plugin and it does not crash at all. using java5 on edgy it crashes. Hilario can you please install sun-java6-plugin and set it to default in update-alternatives and see if it crashes on feisty for you than?

Yes, you were right. Using Java6 does not crash.

gnomefreak: fixed for me on edgy, but I had some problems installing java6:

...
root@paleo:/etc/apt# dpkg --configure sun-java6-bin Setting up sun-java6-bin (6-00-0ubuntu1~edgy1) ...
/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun-1.6.0.00/bin/java: error while loading shared libraries: libjli.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
dpkg: error processing sun-java6-bin (--configure):
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 127
Errors were encountered while processing:
 sun-java6-bin

So the only workaround was:

...
root@paleo:/etc/apt# LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun-1.6.0.00/jre/lib/i386/jli/ dpkg --configure sun-java6-bin
Setting up sun-java6-bin (6-00-0ubuntu1~edgy1) ...

Maybe it's *only me*. But you should consider to add that LD_LIBRARY_PATH stuff to the post-installation script.

Please file a separate bug for your crash.
When it crashes apport dialog should pop-up and ask you to file a bug report. Since you are not using a released version of firefox the dialog will not pop-up so please use the stable firefox-3.5 in repos (not PPA) and see if you can reproduce this, than file a bug on that version. Please give us as much detail that you can about system and packages Java and Firefox installed.. also add if this is only sit eyou see it with or if you can reproduce it with any other site.
most likely this bug is not the same as yours.
