Bug Description

Binary package hint: totem-gstreamer

Colors have started to be displayed wrongly in totem-gstreamer (currently 2.18.0-0ubuntu1). See the attached screenshot. I use the fglrx xorg driver and xv output. The same occurs for all formats I have tried (avi with Xvid codec, mpeg, ogg). Other video players do not have this problem, I tried mplayer, vlc, xine. Also totem-gstreamer always worked fine for me.

I forgot to add: if I use totem's screenshot feature, the colors come out correctly. I need to use Applications|Accessories|Take Screenshot in order to save the colors as they are incorrectly displayed in the running movie

Thank you for your bug. Does it happen if you use the ati driver?

I cannot try the ati driver since I have a Mobility Radeon X1300 which is only supported by fglrx :(

Ijust found out that I have the same issue when I watch *.rm files with vlc, xine, mplayer, etc.

I have the same problem here, but the colors show up correctly in gmplayer (command line mplayer has the same problem though). I'm using the nvidia-glx-legacy driver since my GeForce got suddenly unsupported by the mainstream Nvidia driver ...

Whoops, my bad, mplayer shows the colors correctly too...

I have the same problem. I'm using an Ati Radeon X1600 card.

Prior to use the fglrx driver, the colours were displaying correctly in totem. It's only since installing these drivers that the issue occurs.

Ok, Now I am usung the last drivers from AMD/ATI (version 8.35.5 Mar. 28, 2007) and I have no problem in Totem.

I understand the problem :
If you are in Direct Rendreding (glxinfo | grep render), you have wrong color in totem
Else, you have right color in totom with direct rendering: no

This problem happens with the restricted-drivers from ubuntu and the last drivers from AMD/ATI.

I can confirm the problem with Feisty. I do have direct rendering enabled apparently.

I have this problem on Feisty with direct rendering enabled, too. But it also happens using XGL without direct rendering (altough this could be another problemI).

This looks to be the same issue as in bug:

It is labeled as fixed, and the changes should be distributed soon.

Re Alberto: weird, because I don't have the problem when using Xgl+Beryl

This seems to be a bug just in the xvideo part of the fglrx driver. When I set the video backend to use OpenGL, it works fine.

same problem on gutsy. Incorrect (purple!) colors using totem with gstreamer with xv and the fglrx driver. With gxine and OpenGL (see #130696) driver it works all fine ;).
