Video player is starting twice when double-clicking on video file

Bug Description

Binary package hint: nautilus

I'm using Ubuntu 6.10

When I double-click on a video file in Nautilus, the associated player sometimes starts twice. It happens randomly.
Most of the time it behaves normally, ie. the player only starts once, but about every 3rd or 4th time or so two players are opened playing the same video file.

VLC is associated with most of the video types, but it happens also with mplayer.
I think it happens more often if I double-click very fast and/or move the mouse a bit during double-click. (but this might be simply an illusion)

I don't confirm the bug, maybe your mouse is buggy and generates extra click events or there is an xorg bug?

This happened with my old Logitech Dual Optical and with my new Logitech MX518 mouse. So I don't think it's a bug with the mouse.

I found out that this happens only in "List mode".

OK, this happened to me today for the first time ever with a non-video file, namely by double-clicking on a .tex file, Kile opened twice.

I think that somehow when the system is busy loading the app, the double click event gets sent twice. Or it at least looks like that.

So maybe the bug title could be changed to something more generic (if thats possible, don't know if I can do that myself)

That's happening with nautilus only? There is no real reason for nautilus to react differently to double clicks than other applications, the bug is weird
