Bug Description

Binary package hint: gaim

The Gaim taskbar applet sometimes crashes after login to Gnome.
(I have added gaim to the Sessions manager, so it starts automatically).

same here... may that be it crashes during turning the computer off and then reporting it after you log next time? (just a guess...)

Sounds plausible.

Strange thing is that in the mean time I upgraded to 1:2.0.0+beta6-1ubuntu4. The problem was still there: I occasionally got a crash-report after I logged in to Gnome. Then I tried to reproduce what you said in your post; I closed gaim (choosing Quit from the menu) before I logged off and since then the problem has disappeared.
Maybe by closing Gaim by hand once, it solved the problem.

Feisty and gaim are not supported anymore. Please open a new bug if you get a crash with pidgin in a later version of Ubuntu.
