Bug Description

Binary package hint: linux

I have a 6-in-1 card reader plugged into the PCMCIA slot of my laptop. In Edgy Eft (and indeed all other distributions with a kernel <2.6.20), the card reader has worked as expected. When I inserted a SD-card (or indeed any other card), a device node would be created and hal would automatically mount the device. With the current Feisty kernel (2.6.20-12-generic), this does not happen.

I think it is related to the new libata driver. At least I know that the card mounts properly under Sidux live CD which also uses a 2.6.20-kernel image.

I'll attach the output of dmesg. The most interesting part of it, I would presume, is the last part. Please let me know if I can provide further information.

Here's the output of dmesg, before during and after the SD-card is inserted.

By the way, will this report be forwarded upstream, or should I file a bug at the linux kernel bugzilla as well?

Sorry for the long delay here, Khashayar. Do you know if this is still an issue in Hardy or later?

Haha! I had completely forgotten about this bug. I no longer see it in Hardy.

Launchpad Janitor (janitor) wrote : Kernel team bugs

Per a decision made by the Ubuntu Kernel Team, bugs will longer be assigned to the ubuntu-kernel-team in Launchpad as part of the bug triage process. The ubuntu-kernel-team is being unassigned from this bug report. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeamBugPolicies for more information. Thanks.
