Bug Description

I just upgraded to Edgy using kernel 2.6.17-11-386 and the latest xorg. When I press cntrl-alt-F1 to go back to console and then come back using cntrl-alt-F7 I loose the mouse pointer. I have to restart X to get my mouse back.

I don't know if this is relevant; once after boot-up the login screen was there and the password field was full with stars. I couldn't login in anyway, the keyboard or the mouse was not working and I had to do a hard reset. This happened only once though.

I am using a Dell Inspiron 1150 laptop.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Do you have an externally connected mouse or is this the touchpad? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately we can't fix it, because your description doesn't yet have enough information.
Please include the following additional information, if you have not already done so (please pay attention to lspci's additional options), as required by the Ubuntu Kernel Team:
1. Please include the output of the command 'uname -a' in your next response. It should be one, long line of text which includes the exact kernel version you're running, as well as the CPU architecture.
2. Please run the command 'dmesg > dmesg.log' and attach the resulting file 'dmesg.log' to this bug report.
3. Please run the command 'sudo lspci -vvnn > lspci-vvnn.log' and attach the resulting file 'lspci-vvnn.log' to this bug report.
For your reference, the full description of procedures for kernel-related bug reports is available at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeamBugPolicies . Additionally was this fine with a previous version of the kernel?
