Bug Description

Binary package hint: samba

I've been hit by this: https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3962 (smbd memory consumption when winXP spooler goes into a loop). The patches attached to the bugreport solved the problem, maybe they should be applied to dapper's samba 3.0.22?

Exploiting this bug makes the smbd process eat up to whole available memory, which makes the machine crawl. In other words, it can be used for a DOS attack, and that's why I changed the 'security' setting on this bug.

I'm closing this bug for gutsy as upstream has fixed the bug in version 3.0.23b.

I've also nominated this bug for dapper.
