Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

I'm running feisty and I have installed 2.18.0-0ubuntu1

I have brightness problems with my asus laptop.
in some strange combinations (unfortunately I haven't realized yet when) the brightness applet is not working, and also the gnome-power-preference bars! brightness is still, even when changing them. If I open a console and launch gnome-power-manager the brightness gets adjusted to the value set in g-p-p (but the bars and the applet are still not working at all).

if instead I killall gnome-power-manager and restart it I get everything working again.

Any suggestions to obtain some more details?
