network-manager stops too soon on shutdown

Bug Description

Binary package hint: network-manager

We have a NIS setup (yes, I know...), and it requires the network to be up all the way through shutdown (otherwise it hangs).

Network manager has taken over the network control (because it's DHCP), but it gets shutdown with dbus, quite early in the shutdown process.

We (temporarily) got around this problem by removing dbus from the rc0.d and rc6.d runlevel shutdowns. But this needs to be properly solved.

The issue that you reported is one that should be reproducable with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the development release - Gutsy Gibbon. It would help us greatly if you could test with it so we can work on getting it fixed in the actively developed release. You can find out more about the development release at [WWW] http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/
