Feisty: menu management does not work fine

Bug Description

On Daily Feisty live CD 20-03-2007, same bug as still existing on Edgy

When I go to menu management (called Menu Principal in French):

I select an item
I move it up or down
the selection is going to another item
I need then to reselect .... again and again for each move up or down

In other words, I cannot move a selection several times by just clicking several times on the up or down button. I need to select again each time

I have installed Herd4 then have done constant updates. The application you are referring to is alacarte

It behaves as expected. Select an item and move it up or down as many steps as desired without reselecting it.

I see your problem and remember it from the old days but can't reproduce it now.

What version of alacarte do you have? I'm at 0.11.3-0ubuntu1

"alacarte" version, on my Duron PC (1200 Mhz) :
on Edgy, it is : 0.10.1-0ubuntu1
on Feisty, same as yours!!!

same issue with "alacarte" version on my Centrino M40 laptop Toshiba PC (1.6 GHz)

Running alacarte from the command line reports it uses /var/lib/python-support/python2.5/ and my version is 2.5-5ubuntu10. I also have version 2.4.4-2ubuntu4 installed. I have several other python packages installed. Alacarte seems to be a python app.

I tried this on a second machine and besides being way slower than my main machine it still worked sometimes required a second click on the move up or down button to work but it always moved the intended item without re-selection.

Problem must be in some supporting package. Repositories couldn't be different because of the different languages, could they?

No idea! but I remember, on Edgy, when I raised that bug, the Ubuntu guy told me it was fine with him, and actually he was in English and I was in French!!???

I can confirm this bug.
I also have to reselect the item to move it again.

there seem to be several problems with alacarte :(

-renaming causes problems (doesn't work at all)
-when editing a starter the window is not active

I still cannot reproduce this problem. Please click the "Revert" button in alacarte to undo all your changes and reopen alacarte. If you can still reproduce this bug, attach the contents of ~/.config/menus and ~/.local/share/applications to this bug report so I can see what is going on.

Travis, I think this bug is a dupe of #116490, but I'm not sure enough to mark it... Just wanted your opinion...
