Bug Description
Binary package hint: gnome-panel
Basically I am running Beryl with Emerald.
I noticed that my desktop switcher (which was set to 4 desktops originally to match my cube) was not properly displaying along with the Beryl cube, so I went into prefs and switched it to 2 desktops (original setting) causing the gnome-panel to die, then all windows dissapeared, and I could not even CTRL-ALT-BACKSPACE out. had to do a manual reboot.

Thank you for your bug. Does it happen without using beryl which is not shipped by Ubuntu?
