Bug Description

Binary package hint: desktop-effects

On out-of-the-box configuration the number of Metacity's workspaces (managed in /apps/metacity/general/num_workspaces GConf key) is 2.

Enabling Compiz cube in desktop-effects preferences tool, this key stay unchanged, so you have 2 workspaces and a cube for each workspace. You can see it using the Workspace Switcher in the bottom panel.

But, setting the /apps/metacity/general/num_workspaces GConf key to 1, the Workspace Switcher will show only the available faces of the Compiz cube.

I suggest to set the /apps/metacity/general/num_workspaces key to 1 when the user select the cube option, so he can also use the Workspace Switcher to change cube face and it's more simple to understand then current layout

Doh! It seems I was using compiz GConf keys from my custom installation.

I cleaned my keys (gconftool-2 --recursive-unset /app/compiz) and now it seem that checking the cube option on desktop-effects the number of workspaces in Switcher applet is increased to 4, but there is no cube effect :-(

A similar bug occurs here. Whenever I click on desktop-effects the number of workspaces is reset to 1 and hsize as well. It occurs whether the effects are enabled or disabled.
