funny screen on x restart

Bug Description

I get this on both my laptop and my desktop: When I press ctr-alt-backspace then (f3) to log in and startx for restart the screen behind my splash graphic appears fuzz almost like chains. I am using NVIDIA drivers and it happens right after the NVIDIA splash.

Thanks for reporting this bug in Ubuntu. Unfortunately there is not enough information to troubleshoot this issue.

Please attach your /etc/X11/xorg.conf and /var/log/Xorg.0.log files, and the output from lspci -vvnn. If it is possible to take a photo of your monitor while it's displaying the issue, that could be valuable as well.

It's been a few weeks with no response. Closing as out of date. Please test against Gutsy-final and reopen with the requested info if the issue is still present.
