Bug Description

I had edubuntu 6.10 installed on a laptop (Toshiba Satellite 1900-102). Tried edubuntu upgrade from 6.10 to 7.04, but it failed (I'll report it later on with more details on another bug report). As I couldn't fetch the edubuntu 704 iso (missing on the server at the time I tried to download ¿?), I did download ubuntu 7.04 beta, in order to make a clean install on the partition where root partition was, and keep my /home partition.

First of all, I tried live CD, which worked fine except for wireless connection, which didn't work. The NetworkManager applet icon showed that it was not connected to any wireless network. It found the several wireless networks available (ours and our neighbours', etc). But when selecting ours (common LinkSys ADSL router and wifi access point, it didn't succeed connecting). We are not using any password for connecting, and it had been working fine when previous ubuntu releases were installed on the laptop (ubuntu and edubuntu dapper and edgy, at least).

The problem doesn't seem on the hardware, since when booting as Windoze (dual boot on the machine), the connection to the access point is fine, as before.

FYI, my main user (xavi) didn't have any account details imported from the equivalent windoze xp user , but I created a new user "xavidp" on ubuntu which imported my windoze account details (I haven't tried that user yet). I wanted to state this to clarify that the import settings precedure shoulnd't have affected this user "xavi", since that one shouldn't have had anything imported, in theory (as far as I understand).

BTW, my pcmcia card is CONCEPTRONIC C54RC. The chipset seems to be RALINK RT2500 , afaik
