i get this error message "Could not open location. You may not have permission to open the file." when trying to stream videos from tv.com in totem.

That works nicely for me. Can you run
   tail -f ~/.xsession-errors -n 0
in one terminal and then
totem "http://www.tv.com/stream_asx.php?path=mms%3ASLASHSLASHa36DOTmDOTakastreamDOTnetSLASH7SLASH36SLASH15817SLASHcnetflashDOTdownloadDOTakamaiDOTcomSLASH15817SLASH_%21SLASHsecureSLASHtvSLASH2007SLASH03SLASHheroes-taste-test-heroes-masi_700DOTwmv&speed=300&prestream=tvad_tudors_031207"
in another and copy the output to a comment of this bug?
