Bug Description
Edgy & Feisty both exhibit this behaviour on my HP DV6130US. I have inspected the alsamixer settings to no avail. The ALSA speaker test utility plays sound from channel 0 properly but goes silent on channel 1 (Left and Right Front, respectively.) Under Edgy, i obtained the latest release candidate from ALSA and installed to no avail. The same error surfaced when I recently moved up to Feisty.
