xchat-gnome doesn't reauthenticate to nickserv when reconnecting

Bug Description

Binary package hint: xchat-gnome

xchat correctly reconnects to servers when it loses and reestablishes its network connection. However, it doesn't reauthenticate to nickserv when doing this. It does authenticate correctly when first starting up.

This is annoying because freenode will discard private messages from unauthenticated users, and this is not very visible in xchat because the error comes into the server's tab, not the tab where the message was sent.

If I manually reconnect through the context menu option, then it does
reauthenticate. It does not seem to happen when it automatically
reconnects.

I can confirm http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=337763 but
that's a different bug in my opinion.

Together with bug 97253 this suggests to me that the auto-reconnect
code is a bit different from the explicit reconnect.

Confirmed under Oneiric Oncelot 11.10.
It's very annoying: when I resume from suspend to RAM, xchat-gnome does not re-authenticate, and I can't join channels that require authentication.
