Disconnecting from internet while loading pages sometimes causes Firefox to freeze and act strangely

Bug Description

I use dial-up and cellular connections (both using PPP) to access the Internet.
If I am in the middle of loading a page, and I disconnect from the internet
(often it's just when the connection
is lost, but it also may happen when the poff command is used), Firefox will
stop responding and the
cursor will strangely start rapidly changing between a "loading" cursor and the
normal arrow. Reconnecting makes firefox
begin acting normal again.

I can't reproduce this. If you can reproduce it on demand, could you please do
the following:

* start firefox (with the link up)
* find its pid with ps -ef | grep firefox (you may see two pids, one grep
and one firefox, or just firefox), eg
ian@samual4:~$ ps -ef | grep firefox
ian 16121 1 5 17:14 ? 00:00:13
/usr/lib/mozilla-firefox/firefox-bin -a firefox
ian 16333 12902 0 17:19 pts/2 00:00:00 grep firefox
ian@samual4:~$

* in a command window run strace -tt -ostrace -p<pid for firefox that you see in
ps above> eg in this case strace -tt -ostrace -p16121
* reproduce the problem as you describe
* while firefox is still misbehaving, press ^C in the strace command window

Now `bzip2 strace' and email `strace.bz2' it to <email address hidden>. It may be very
large, so please do not attach it to the bug report !

Is this still a problem?

I got out a modem and tried to reproduce the bug by unplugging various cables to
simulate error. Unable to reproduce.

Reconnected DSL then killed Internet connection via System
->Administration->Networking to simulate error. Unable to reproduce

Expected condition where cursor stays on loading and status bar indicated page
loaded occurs. Reconnected to Internet and hit page reload resulting as normal.

This bug has not been reproducable and had no input for 4 months, I will close it, please reopen if the issue still occurs
