Bug Description

1606dn - unable to install hplip-3.12.3 on Mint 12

Hi,
I am unable to install the current driver hplip-3.12.3 on Mint 12 (64bit).

The printer I am installing a driver for is the HP P1606dn using network mode.

The printer is currently working OK as I can print from a Windows PC that's connected to the network.

Also I can reach the Printer IP address within the Firofox on the Mint box - so I'm seeing it OK on the network.

I've also successfully installed the driver on Ubuntu 10.11 without any problems recently.

I've installed the hplip-3.12.2.run wizard and also installed it from a tar file manually and been unable to install

There are two error message highlighted from the hp-plugin -g output:

error: option -i not recognized (comment I don't know what this refers to!)
error: Python gobject/dbus may be not installed

I would be grateful if you could guide me as to how I can correct the problem

I have attached the outputs of the pgp key stuff, hp-check -t, hp-plugin -g in the attachement.

Regards,
Ciaran Mulloy

Hi Ciaran Mulloy,

This plugin installation is failing due to hp-configuration doesn't contain ui mode. This may be configuration error.

Requesting to download latest HPLIP-3.12.4.run from "http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/install/install/index.html"

1) run hplip-3.12.4.run in terminal
$ sh hplip-3.12.4.run
==> follow steps.

Please let us know if you find any difficulties.

Thanks & Regards,
Amarnath

Due to some reasons auto installation is not working for LinuxMint 12. We regret for the inconvenience .
Please install the hplip-3.12.4 from the source package hplip-3.12.4.tar.gz. You will find the detailed steps to download and install this at this link : http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/install/manual/distros/linuxmint.html

Hi Amarnath,
Yes, I just spotted the new hplip upgrade 3.12.4 last night and have it
loaded and working now. Fortunately I'd done all the 'hard work' in
satisfying all the dependencies. The big issue is identifying which items
to load using apt-get install on the CLI.

Many thanks for your help!
