Bug Description

Removed Vista, and installed Windows XP Pro. No sound there either, but fixed problem by installing Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture driver, and Conextant sound driver OS2006203a. Found all driver info on DriverPacks.net forum. http://forum.driverpacks.net/index.php

Installed Feisty 7.04 Beta next to XP in dual boot, and have Been using Feisty since Herd 4, . . there hasn't been sound in Feisty since installing it. No other problems detected so far. Uses Mobile Intel(R) 945GM Express Chipset Family.

I supplied the output as requested, but it doesn't look as Modular as
the example, but I believe all the info is there.
I am new at this stuff, but will supply whatever else you may need.

Just discovered Bug #83544 on record that might be related to my Toshiba
problem.
Thought I'd point it out since I discovered it while doing a "google"
for this problem.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This particular bug appears to be a duplicate of bug 136479, so it is being marked as such.

The issue should be gone in the current Hardy Heron 8.04 LTS release. If that is not the case, please feel free to report the fact here.

The Intrepid Ibex 8.10 Alpha2 is also scheduled for release today. It will appear at the following when available: http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/intrepid/alpha2 . It contains the actively developed 2.6.26 Ubuntu kernel.

If the issue *does* exist in Hardy, it would be great if you could test this upcoming release via a LiveCD and verify if the issue still exists. If so, please include the appropriate debugging information as outlined at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingSoundProblems . Thanks a lot.

Sound/acpi confict still not fixed on my Toshiba p100-jr5, even in Hardy 8.04. I still must disable acpi to enable sound. I would certainly be willing to test via a live cd. I will start today.
Thank you.

Launchpad Janitor (janitor) wrote : This bug is now reported against the 'linux' package

Beginning with the Hardy Heron 8.04 development cycle, all open Ubuntu kernel bugs need to be reported against the "linux" kernel package. We are automatically migrating this bug to the new "linux" package. However, development has already began for the upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. It would be helpful if you could test the upcoming release and verify if this is still an issue - http://www.ubuntu.com/testing . If the issue still exists, please update this report by changing the Status of the "linux" task from "Incomplete" to "New". We appreciate your patience and understanding as we make this transition. Thanks!
