Bug Description

I'm attempting to installing Feisty beta on a Gigabyte 965G-DS3 motherboard using the alternate media for i386. After selecting "Install in text mode", the first steps of the installation proceed as expected:

- Choose language
- Choose a country
- Detect keyboard layout
- Scanning CDROM
- Loading additional components
- Detecting network hardware
- Configuring the network with DHCP
- Hostname
- Detecting disks

Then, the installation prompts to select a driver for the disk drive with the following message:

No disk drive was detected. If you know the name of the driver needed
by your disk drive, you can select it from the list.

As reported in bug #80503, I tried installing with the option pci=nommconf. However, I experience the exact same problem as above.

Marc, can you please test this on a daily that has at least 2.6.20-13 kernel? We are pretty sure this problem has been already addressed.

I tested again with the latest daily current, 20070330.1, and I get the same behavior as described in my original bug report.

Marc - try with the 2.6.20-14 kernel you pulled from me today, or wait until Monday when it shows up in the daily ISO. There are at least 2 other reports involving this same model of motherboard.

I am using a ga-965g-ds3 motherboard. I was unable to boot with the feisty beta CD. The daily liveCD from April 12th didn't work either. Looking at the messages there was something about fd0. I don't have a floppy drive installed in my box. Disabling the floppy in the BIOS enabled the daily to boot. I would never have thought to disable it in BIOS, as it has caused no problems with any other OS or Distro I have installed and run from CD ont his box.

Might help someone with the same board. Is this the sort of thing that could use its own separate bug report?

And sorry if this gets posted twice, I can't remember if I posted it before closing the window a few minutes ago and I don't see it here, so I got to retype it :)

Does this bug still occur in Feisty final?
