Are you seeing window decorations, i.e. the title bars and the close/minimize/.. buttons?

i use compiz on ubuntu 7.4 and i have the same problem.
it happens often but not always:
if i maximize a windows i cannot unmaximize, minimize or move. if i try the windows assumes the state 'unselected' and if i click somewhere on it i'm actually interacting on the objects that are behind it (hope it's clear).
i'm on intel mobile processor and ati x300.
