My HP DJ 5440 is properly detected and set up in Feisty, but is not detected in HP-toolbox.

Solved:

install the hpijs-ppds package

This should be installed by default!

This bug report is being closed due to your last comment regarding this being fixed with an update. Thanks again for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Incidentally, hpijs-ppds is recommended by the hplip package however not every package manager automatically installs recommended packages. Feel free to submit any future bugs you may find.

You can't be serious about that!!??

This practically renders HP-toolbox unusable for all HP-inkjets. How should average users know how to fix this problem? They don't read bugreports!

I did a clean install from the downloaded Feista Fawn Beta ISO.

If you can't include the hpijs-ppds package on the cd, would it be possible to give the user a message which tells him/her how to install the right package?
