Bug Description

Ubuntu Dapper Drake V2.6.15 -28-386 set up as a server on a PC with P4 processor, 2Gig RAM, SCSI RAID 1 Fujitsu 73Gig Ultra 320, HP Tape DRive.

Once or twice per month server effectively hangs with screen showing 100's of scrolling messages containing incrementing numbers in square brackets. It has to be manually restarted.

It only happens while running Flexbackup/Afio when it's doing a full back up of about 13Gig of Word, Excel or jpg files from server to DDS-4 tape. Logs reveal that it can happen anywhere, ie somteimes at the start of the backup and sometimes in the middle or near the end of backup.

Backup is initiated by crontab each night with following entry:
30 21 * * 1-5 root flexbackup -set all -ignore-errors >/dev/null

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in recently. We were wondering if this is still and issue for you? Thanks in advance.

Replaced the tape drive, which was on the same SCSI buss as the Hard Disk drives, with a USB tape drive. That particular problem hasn't re-occurred. So the cause could have been the faulty tape drive "hogging" the SCSI buss?

OK. Will close.
Backup unit replaced. Bug report possibly hardware fault related.
