Screensaver causes termination of desktop session

Bug Description

When the screensaver is started after the configured time or if I select the screensaver from the preferences menu an error occurs; the X server is crashed and restarts at the gdm login.

I'm also seeing this with Ubuntu 7.10 tribe 5 on my amd64 machine
