michau,

thanks for taking the time to report this bug and improve kubuntu. I think there may actually be two issues here. You report that adept-notifier failed to start but the crash report you gave refers to the kde-guidance package --> "SourcePackage: kde-guidance". The error message at the end of the crash report suggests that this is a duplicate of a known issue that is currently being tracked as bug 97507.

You say that adept-notifier didn't start. Can you give us more information. What did you observe and how does this differ from what you expected to see? If there are no updates available then adept-notifier doesn't bother to show the icon in the system tray. Does adept-notifier appear in the list of running processes, try this command to find out:

ps -e | grep adept

if you see something like ' 5952 ? 00:00:11 adept_notifier' as the output then adept_notifier is running.

Sorry for all the questions, just trying to diagnose the problem
Rich

Hi! The adept-notifier works correctly, the command
ps -e | grep adept
says
5180 ? 00:00:04 adept_notifier
then notifier is running.
In fact, when updates are available, the notifier reports me that.
Sorry, when the bug appears for first time, I checked "don't show this bug
again" option, and I haven't had more bug notifications, so I can't say you
more about this bug!
Thank you, bye bye!
mauro

Mauro, thanks for the feedback. As suspected the bug is a known issue in kde-guidance and not adept notifier. Now that it is properly annotated it should get dealt with. Feel free to report any further bugs you may find and thanks for helping to improve Kubuntu.
