machine freezes when playing 3d demos

Bug Description

steps to reproduce:

get the source from

http://www.linuxdemos.org/demo/indigo

or

http://exhouse.untergrund.net/warez/demos/portse/traction/indigo/indigo_by_traction_src.zip

unpack, make clean, make and run ./indigo

after about 5 to 30 seconds, the machine freezes. this happens with all sdl based demos i tried so far, and i have no clue how to debug this, so somebody else might take this on. it seems to be kernel related.

Hi, thank you for your bug report. Do you still have these issues with the latest packages?
If yes, please post the version of Ubuntu you are running as well as some information about your hardware and which drivers you are using. It may also help if you attach /var/log/kern.log to this bug.

it seems the problems are gone. i have others relating to stuttering sound but i believe this is not a problem of the distro.
