Quit/Shutdown Panel Applet Should Be Moved to lower right corner

Bug Description

By default, the Quit/Shutdown Panel Applet appears in the upper right hand corner of the gnome panel, to the right of the date, and directly above the "x" exit button of a maximized window. I have found that the proximity of the Quit Applet to the "x" exit button will result in a misclick onto the Quit Applet, causing confusion to users who are not linux-savvy when the logout screen pops up.

I believe that it is more intuitive to place the quit applet on the lower righthand corner, to the right of the workplace switcher and the trash. A space of 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch to each side would insure less misclicks on the trash or workspace 4.

I agree. I've seen users misclicking quite often. They then ask me why the computer wants to shutdown when they just want to close a window.

I'm not sure where it should go but it needs to be somewhere that an intentional click is almost assured.

For my self, the Quit/Shutdown Panel Applet is well placed on the extreme right... And if someone want to put it somewhere else, he/she just have to create a new panel on the desired location with it inside....

Thanks for triaging this 'bug'. I've actually changed my opinion
about the location of the panel, and I find it more intuitive to have
it to the left of the date.

Thanks for your bug. The bug tracker is the wrong place to debate about such choice because few people read bugs on a package. You should better mail the ubuntu-desktop mailing list about that. The lower right corner is already used by the trash applet. The action is placed to a desktop edge because they are easy places to reach with the mouse
