Bug Description

therm_adt module is not automatically loaded on powerbooks (and reportedly ibooks)

this may or may not be an issue. is this lkm responsible for reading/adjusting fan control settings or is it responsible for fan control (obviously if this is the case there is an issue) ?

there is a failsave in the firmware but i'm not sure if that is relevant in this case.

i believe this needs to be looked into in order to ensure somebody won't inadvertandly fry their pretty apple laptop.

i am using ubuntu dapper drake (6.06 LTS) on a 12" powerbook (1.5ghz)

From memory earlier ubuntu releases did autoload this module.

this bug still exists in edgy knot3 (fresh install from live cd), you have to manually add the module therm_adt746x to /etc/modules

i really hope this bug will be fixed soon, this bug might destroy hardware!

Did this get fixed in edgy? (as well as bug 54166)

It is too bad that such a small but critical problem doesn't get attended to quickly enough...
