Hi Corey, we need a little bit of information about what type of laptop you have and the events that they keys produce.

Could you try following the ACPI section at:

  https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LaptopTestingTeam/HotkeyResearch

and see if you can get any results codes from the ACPI log.

Paul, you haven't had the experience of dealing with my bios. It doesn't generate acpi events. I just tried.

Just tried this in edgy knot 1. None of the methods listed on that wikipage return me anything.

Corey: it would still be handy to know /what/ laptop we're talking about! :)

Can you include the output of:

  cat /var/lib/acpi-support/*-*

and also update the title of this bug to include the make and model of the laptop in question.

Is this still an issue?

This laptop hasn't been tested before, please do it and create a wikipage for it:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LaptopTestingTeam/Toshiba

You can check other tests, so you can see how to do it.
