AMD64: GRUB - install device not specified (once)

Bug Description
Warning: I can not replicate this problem.
I am using the ubuntu-
First, my partitions were like this following:
/dev/sda1 empy (20 GB)
/dev/sda5 / (10 GB)
/dev/sda6 /test1 (10 GB)
/dev/sda7 swap ( 1 GB)
/dev/sda8 /test2 (10 GB)
/dev/sda9 /test3 (10 GB)
/dev/sda3 /extra (19 GB)
/dev/sdb1 /extra1 (80 GB)
Instalation GRUB failed, the message was:
"install device not specified"
The I tried this partition.
/dev/sda1 / (20 GB)
/dev/sda5 /test (10 GB)
/dev/sda6 /test1 (10 GB)
/dev/sda7 swap ( 1 GB)
/dev/sda8 /test2 (10 GB)
/dev/sda9 /test3 (10 GB)
/dev/sda3 /extra (19 GB)
/dev/sdb1 /extra1 (80 GB)
which was successful.
Last, I tried this:
/dev/sda1 /iubuntu (20 GB)
/dev/sda5 / (10 GB)
/dev/sda6 /test1 (10 GB)
/dev/sda7 swap ( 1 GB)
/dev/sda8 /test2 (10 GB)
/dev/sda9 /test3 (10 GB)
/dev/sda3 /extra (19 GB)
/dev/sdb1 /extra1 (80 GB)
which was successful too.
Any clue?
I give up!
I tried to delete the MBR using "dd".
But I could not replicate this bug.
I guess that I have pushed a wrong button :(.
