dmraid runs in rcS at S03 while udev runs at S10. dmraid needs to run after udev.

Are you actually effected by this problem or are you just echoing it from the debian BTS? I believe that our system differs from theirs in that ours is loaded from the initramfs, before any rc processing is done. You might also want to see this bug:

https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/dmraid/+bug/54246

And the attached updated package.

Yes, I have confirmed that our dmraid package differs from debian's by setting up dmraid in the initramfs. The rc scripts just run it for a second time which should have no effect, though it is redundant.

If you just echoed this bug from debian BTS, please cancel/reject it as it doesn't apply to Ubuntu.

In addition to the scripts in the initramfs dmraid's initialization is
switched. It did affect me hence the reason for opening the bug. You can see
my comment in the main bug about it. If you want to test it out you can
remove /etc/rcS.d/S11dmraid from your system and see if everything works
fine.

NB: I wasn't booting into the raid, I booted into hda but I had other
partitions I wanted to access post boot that were on raid, but before my
update (moving dmraid from S03 to S11) I could not access them without
running dmraid -ay maunally.

This is a separate issue from bug #54246. The rc13 package attached to bug #54246 fixes both that bug and this one, take a look at the debian/changelog

Yes, but since the fix attached to that bug also fixes this one, I figured they should be attached.

Yeah I packaged up rc13 and just fixed the two issues at once. I'd like to
leave the two bugs open though, just in case my package doesn't get
uploaded.

Are you subscribed to the ubuntu-motu list? It's helpful, at least to see
administrative issues of how motu is run in Ubuntu, because no one could
tell me how I can get my rc13 package uploaded, so they're finally working
out a process.
